Thanks for all your help. I definitely assumed a dedicated VR system would be a much better experience, but to be honest, I'm not much of a modern gamer. So I only wanted something easy and accessible to try 3DNes in VR because I wouldn't be using the VR system for anything else. So buying a dedicated system specifically for 3DNes seems a tad excessive, hence my attempt to go the mobile headset route. But from what you're saying, that route will always produce shitty results, so thanks for letting me know before I wasted my time trying other headsets in vain. I appreciate it.

I got an email two days ago saying the new version of 3DNes was available for download, and that it now has VR capabilities. Consider my pants fully jizzed! I went out and bought the VR Cinema headset and downloaded Trinus VR to play 3DNes through the headset on my iPhone 6s plus.

Everything seemed to work fine on the surface. 3DNes started fine and loaded the games, Trinus streamed the content to my phone fine. But the actual image wasn't great. The center of the image looked fine, but then it got super blurry the further out it got to my peripherals. So, for Super Mario Bros, for example, I could see some of the center blocks crystal clear, but Mario was blurry near the bottom of my vision, and the score area at the top was basically unreadable. I could zoom the camera outward, but then it's all super small and not a great experience that way either.

So I guess my question is: Is there a recommended mobile headset that will play 3DNes games in a super clear, beautiful VR experience? Has anyone here had any success getting a great VR experience on their iPhone through a mobile headset?

I should mention that I have otherwise fine vision (I don't wear glasses), and that I played around with the settings of the headset to get the lenses as perfect as possible, and even played around with the settings in Trinus and 3DNes as much as possible, but nothing really seemed to help. I don't really know if it's something wrong I'm doing on my end, but after trying so many things to fix it, I'm suspecting that it may be an inherent problem with the headset.

Thanks for the response. Pardon my lack of tech skills, but this just means I'll need to have a second micro SD card with Android installed as its OS, and then I can load 3DNES on it? That seems like a totally fine compromise. I'll keep my eyes on the development of Android for Pi and 3DNES for Android, and then pounce once they're both ready to work together.

First off, I just want to say how utterly game changing this is. Wow. I am blown away by not only your creativity to dream up such a concept in the first place, but then to go on and develop it so damn well. I am in awe of your talents. I sent you some money to support this project, and I can't wait to see where you take it, especially with the help of the community who are editing such stellar .3dn files. Thanks to everyone involved!

My main wishlist is that I would eventually love to see a version of the emulator ported to the Linux-based Raspberry Pi. Playing on my computer is fine, but I do most of my retro gaming on my TV. I've got the Pi running Retropie and Emulationstation, and my God I would LOVE to have 3DNES functional on that thing. Is this something you ever envision yourself working on to implement? Even if it's a premium feature, I would happily pay for a version like this.
